The Elizabethtown Wastewater Treatment Plant is the collection point of the sewer system. We are a Class IV wastewater facility with a design flow of 13 million gallons per day coming from commercial, residential and industrial sources. The treatment process includes automated bar screens, aerated oxidation ditches, clarification, chlorination and dechlorination and solids removal. The facility runs 24/7 and accepts trucked in waste from septic tanks, grease traps and RVs.
Our facility includes State approved pretreatment program and a State certified laboratory. The responsibility of the pretreatment program is to enforce the City of Elizabethtown's Sewer Use Ordinance as it pertains to commercial, industrial and residential wastewater discharges. Primary activity deals with the inspection and monitoring of industrial activities and pretreatment facilities. Wastewater discharge from these facilities is tested on a regular basis to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements. The Wastewater Department approves grease trap applications and ensures records are kept of grease trap cleaning and maintenance.
