Freeman Lake Park is home to several historic sites that reflect Elizabethtown’s early history and connections to Abraham Lincoln. The Lincoln Heritage House, which is part of the Lincoln Heritage Trail, was constructed by Abraham Lincoln’s father and highlights the Lincoln family’s ties to the area.
The park also includes the Summit One-Room Schoolhouse, which served local students from 1892 to 1953, and the Sarah Bush Johnston Log Cabin, a replica honoring the home of Abraham Lincoln’s stepmother. Together, these sites offer visitors an opportunity to explore local history while enjoying the park.
