The City of Elizabethtown is celebrating Founders’ Day on July 4th with a fireworks show sponsored by Magnolia Bank.
Elizabethtown began quietly on July 4, 1797 when Revolutionary War veteran, Andrew Hynes, gave a 30-acre tract of land to Hardin County leaders. In appreciation, the new city was named in honor of Hynes' wife, Elizabeth. Within months, Elizabeth Town (as it was then listed) had been parceled into quarter and half-acre lots, forming the charming community we know and love today.
In honor of both the United States' Independence Day and Elizabethtown's Founders' Day, the City of Elizabethtown presents an annual fireworks celebration.
The City, along with Magnolia Bank, Hardin County Schools, and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College have partnered together to provide the July 4th Founders’ Day Fireworks Over Elizabethtown. The fireworks will be executed near EC3 on University Drive and the ECTC campus. Launching from a higher vantage point, the display can be seen by many neighborhoods in Elizabethtown, creating a much broader viewing radius.
Parking at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and on University Drive, will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Hardin County School’s EC3 parking lot will be closed to the public. Patrons are free to park in those adjoining lots. Limited snack food vendors will be on site.
Fireworks will be executed by Casabella Pyrotechnics and begin at 10:00pm.
The fireworks coverage and synched fireworks soundtrack will be broadcasted on the following radio stations: Quicksie 98.3, Wolf 94.3 and WKMO 101.5. The Magnolia Bank Founders Day fireworks coverage will begin at 10:00pm.
