The construction project currently underway at the Elizabethtown Police Department is nearing the midway point.  The project is a result of the growth here in Elizabethtown and the surrounding Hardin County area.  As these areas have been experiencing record growth, the PD has also experienced tremendous growth.  This growth has put our current building beyond capacity and shown the need for additional space.  The external building will soon house our specialty vehicles and equipment as well as our workout facility and locker rooms.  The internal remodel will address additional investigative personnel workstations, new classrooms for training, repurposed areas for IT and FLEX team personnel, and a redesign for our dispatch center.  The internal project also has upgraded 20-year-old flooring and paint, both of which were original from the 2005 construction, including our widely used Community Room. The impound-lot expansion will also allow for additional public parking on the east side of the property. The project bid was accepted for 3.2 million dollars and is expected to be completed sometime in September.
